Summary
The Annual ASCRS-ASOA Symposium and Congress hosts more than 10,000 eye surgeons, nurses, technicians, administrators, AND exhibitors who demonstrate the latest technology and services in the field. For more than 18 years, Event Transportation Systems (ETS) has managed shuttle transportation for those attendees who stay in city-wide hotel properties. In tandem with ETS, Newsday Communications produces and installs shuttle graphics that ASCRS sells as part of their sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, for many years, Newsday Communications produced the official Convention News program. This was offered to exhibiting companies as an advertising opportunity along with graphics.
These opportunities were positioned to generate revenue for the association to offset the cost of transportation.
Shuttle Graphics Shuttle graphics are always a hit, and a tremendously effective way for exhibiting companies to announce a new product or service, generate brand awareness, and drive attendees to their booth exhibit. ASCRS is also able to generate significant revenue with shuttle graphic offerings at their annual meeting.
Video Production Video production is another aspect of Newsday Communications’ full-service suite of offerings. Armed with an experienced production team, Newsday Communications produced video content that was used in a variety of ways. In addition to producing the official Convention News program on-site, which was aired on buses and in hotel rooms, content was also used for short clips in social media channels during and after the meeting, including meeting “highlights” videos.
Successes
ASCRS generated significant revenue through the sales of shuttle graphics and convention new program advertising.
Newsday produced daily Convention News programs on-site, duped programs on DVDs, and distributed them to all shuttle buses and the majority of attendee hotel rooms each day.
Convention News Programs were used successfully as a communications tool to help ASCRS accomplish some of it meeting goals that included encouraging attendees to visit the ASCRS booth, complete a survey, enter a TESLA give-away raffle, download the meeting APP and participate in the foundation race.
Program advertising allowed exhibitors to get their message out, whether they were announcing a new product, or communicating a special offer to drive traffic to their exhibit.
Program content was reused for marketing and social media channels before, during and after the meeting to drive engagement and get messages our quickly and effectively.
